Deep Blue Academy is a New Orleans-based 501(c)(3) research and education nonprofit

On the 5-6 October, NANO Architecture and the European Cultural Center co-hosted the Shaping the City Forum at the Patrick F. Taylor Library at the Ogden Museum. This extraordinary and timely event brought together multi-sector global leaders in the architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning community to discuss climate change challenges facing major cities worldwide. These threats are magnified in coastal cities such as Venice and New Orleans, both of whose low-lying geography make them particularly vulnerable to the threat of rising sea levels and extreme weather events. As a city with a unique history, geography, and urban fabric, New Orleans provided a rich and complex framework for examining the relationship between cultural legacy and sustainable urban development through the lens of environmental justice.

Shaping the City is a forum organized by the European Cultural Centre – Italy as part of the public programming of the ECC Venice Architecture Biennial Exhibition titled Time Space Existence. The overarching mission of  Shaping the City is the sharing of knowledge, best practices, as well as stimulating new international collaborations and actions for our threatened cities and communities.
